Qualifications:
1. At least 21 years of age.
2. RN, LPN, licensed EMT, licensed first responder or an adult who has completed
training and certification that is equivalent to the requirements set forth in
the
American Red Cross manual #650010, “Responding to Emergencies.”
3. Current certification equivalent to CPR for the professional rescuer.
4. Possess a growing faith in Jesus Christ and be able to share that faith with
others.
5. Possess mature leadership qualities.
6. Enjoy working with children and youth.
7. Able to maintain a good relationship with campers and parents.
8. High moral character, physical stamina, and emotional stability.
Responsibilities:
1. During staff training week, discuss general first aid, health and
safety procedures,
precautions and routines with staff.
2. Report all health lodge admissions and releases to the camp director.
3. Guide counselors regarding their responsibilities for noting and reporting
illness,
injury, or unsafe practices and conditions that might contribute to
camper or staff
accidents.
4. Document changes in campers’ dietary habits such as failure to eat a variety
of
foods, rapid gain/loss, or any symptoms of disturbance such as restless
sleep, nail-
biting, thumb-sucking, bed-wetting, withdrawal or homesickness.
5. Check the health and safety conditions of cabins and other camp buildings
daily.
6. Administer all medications and treatments according to physician's orders and
keep
records of all such treatment daily in a bound medical log.
7. Give medical updates to the camp director daily.
8. Prepare first aid kits for emergency use on hikes, activities at North Point,
and all
off site field trips.
9. Discuss any health needs, conditions and concerns with campers and
parents/guardians during on-site registration and share pertinent information
with
appropriate staff.
10. During on-site registration, take charge of, and be responsible for any
drugs,
medications and first aid supplies brought to camp by campers and use as
directed
or prescribed.
11. Make an inventory list of all medical equipment and supplies at the end of
summer camp and prepare a list of equipment and supplies that need replenishing
before next summer.
12. Keep a permanent record of campers and staff who received treatment in the
health lodge,
13. Keep a permanent record of all hospital admissions, doctor’s visits, and
examination records, records for insurance companies and general health
procedures for the entire camp.
14. Attend and participate in all camp activities as time and your schedule
allow.
Remuneration:
1. Pay range is $225 - $250 per week.
2. Private housing, laundry facilities, meals and snacks are provided.
